Shattuck Hospital

Shattuck Hospital
The Lemuel Shattuck Hospital provides acute, sub-acute, and ambulatory care to its diverse patients, as well as an array of mental health, substance abuse, and social services. Located in Jamaica Plain, the hospital has inpatient care for the chronically and severely mentally ill. The services also enable patients that are economically and socially disadvantaged, and underserved by the mainstream health care system to obtain high quality cost effective care from a staff that respects their dignity. Donated art will hang in the conference, training, and meeting rooms where clients access services as well as the entry waiting area to add much needed color, creativity, and artistic expression to the hospital and help build staff and client morale.

City on a Hill

City on a Hill Charter Public School
City on a Hill, a public high school in urban Boston, emphasizes academic achievement, citizenship, teacher leadership, and public accountability. They seek to graduate responsible, resourceful, and respectful democratic citizens prepare to advance community, culture, and commerce as they compete in the 21st century. The students in this Roxbury school made up the selection committee that chose this artwork to hang in its hallways, student spaces, meeting rooms, tutorial areas, and stairwells in order to fill the space with art and color, and to create an aesthetically pleasing environment where students and teachers will enjoy being, learning, and teaching.

Boston Rescue Mission

Boston Rescue Mission
Boston Rescue Mission has been caring for people who are poor and homeless in greater Boston since 1899. Each day the Mission serves up to 500 meals and provides shelter for up to 200 men and women. Their programs provide a comprehensive continuum of care for its guests and residents and are designed to accommodate a person in need regardless of their circumstances. Dealing with issues such as chronic homelessness, substance abuse, and prisoner re-entry, the Boston Rescue Mission works to help people reclaim the lives they lost. Programs include: overnight shelter, community meal, food pantry, post-detox residential program, life growth residential program, on-the-job-re-entry program, fresh start curriculum, job referral network, and spiritual development. Donated art will hang in their day room, chapel, computer room, hallways and stairwells, and the residential floors serving both men and women; offering a chance to not only make a person feel better, but also a chance to truly be apart of a person’s life during their road to recovery.

Toward Independent Living & Learning (TILL), Inc.
"Toward Independent Living and Learning’s missions is to develop and operate innovative services for individuals of all ages and abilities which maximize their potential for personal growth and independent living. TILL’s day habilitation center in Chelsea serves over 40 individuals and helps them be as productive as possible by focusing on their abilities rather than their disabilities and offering work training and other services to the community. Environments for people with disabilities has historically been viewed as being only spaces which are functional and therefore little emphasis is placed upon the details. Donated art hangs in the hallways, meeting rooms, kitchen, cafĂ©, and other community spaces to demonstrate the pride TILL instills in their staff and clients with regard to enjoying beauty in their surroundings. The art enhances the environment aesthetically as well as encourage one to see color, form, and shapes in ways which they would not typically view in their surroundings.
