Homeowner's Rehab, Inc.'s Putnam Green Apartments

Homeowner’s Rehab, Inc. (HRI) is a non-profit founded in 1972, whose main goal is the development of affordable housing in the city of Cambridge.  HRI has shifted its focus from homeownership to include rental properties as a means to create new opportunities for households that cannot compete in Cambridge’s housing market. HRI’s continuing mission is to provide safe, affordable, decent, and sustainable housing.
HRI completed the construction on this new 40-unit building in 2011. It is the first new, large scale affordable housing building in the neighborhood. The development is LEED Platinum certified and is a model of energy efficiency. HRI is providing healthy, sustainable affordable housing while enhancing the community as a whole.
The addition of original artwork donated through The Art Connection will further benefit the residents and create a better sense of community onsite. Artwork hangs in the main lobby and community room as well as on each floor by the elevators and in hallways.

Homeowner's Rehab, Inc. Chapman Arms Apartments

HRI purchased the Chapman Arms building from Harvard University in 2011. Over half of the building reserved as affordable housing units for housing elderly, disabled, and formerly homeless residents. This building is one of the four remaining affordable sites in Harvard Square and Homeowner’s Rehab takes pride in maintaining it for the residents. The addition of original artwork donated through The Art Connection further benefits the residents and creates a better sense of community onsite. Artwork hangs in the main lobby and community sitting room as well as on each floor by the elevators and in hallways.

Homeowner's Rehab- Main Office

Homeowner’s Rehab, Inc. (HRI) is a non-profit founded in 1972, whose main goal is the development of affordable housing in the city of Cambridge.  HRI has shifted its focus from homeownership to include rental properties as a means to create new opportunities for households that cannot compete in Cambridge’s housing market. HRI’s continuing mission is to provide safe, affordable, decent, and sustainable housing and has a portfolio of over 1,500 units to accomplish this task.

HRI's main office, located in Cambridge's Central Square, selected artwork in order to enhance their space for clients who visit to meet with staff or to apply for housing. Many of these new applicants are in the midst of a foreclosure or similar challenges that compromise a sound living situation.  All donated artwork hangs in the entrance, in hallways, in the Foreclosure Prevention office, and in the office of the Resident Service Coordinator. To learn more about HRI, please visit www.homeownersrehab.org

Homeowner's Rehab- Inman Square Apartments

Homeowner’s Rehab, Inc. (HRI) is a non-profit founded in 1972, whose main goal is the development of affordable housing in the city of Cambridge. HRI has shifted its focus from homeownership to include rental properties as a means to create new opportunities for households that cannot compete in Cambridge’s housing market. HRI’s continuing mission is to provide safe, affordable, decent, and sustainable housing.

HRI, Inc. purchased and rennovated a large apartment building in Inman Square that houses many senior citizens and disabled adults. Many of the residents at this property are homebound and spend a fair amount of time congregating in the building's community areas. After renovations, the agency came to The Art Connection so that the addition of original artwork could be part of their efforts to better the Inman Square Apartment building for the residents. All donated artwork hangs in the community rooms, main lobby, by the mailboxes, and on each floor’s elevator lobby.
