Boston Center for Refugee Health and Human Rights

Art Placements: 2009

Boston Center for Refugee Health and Human Rights
Boston Center for Refugee Health and Human Rights at Boston Medical Center strives to create a healing environment where refugees and torture survivors can connect, feel safe, and renew their lives. Traumatic life events impact an individual’s physical and emotional health as well as their sense of identity and place. The major focus of their work is providing holistic care that recognizes the important of community as a vehicle of healing and recovery. Their patients have often been exposed to extremes of human cruelty and their services are critical to the process of healing which enables the patients to trust in humanity once again. Donated art will hang in the entry, waiting areas, hallways, and meeting rooms of the center to represent a diverse array of subjects and styles reflective of the diverse experiences and backgrounds of the individuals that walk through their doors. The art will positively contribute to both the experiences of our clients and staff as well as the development and success of the program’s mission in that it would help them better provide a safe, welcoming, and inspiring environment that will encourage the healing process.
