Travelers Aid Family Services
Travelers Aid Family Services provides a variety of professional social services to a diverse group of families and individuals in transition including people who are traveling, people who are homeless, people living a transient lifestyle, and those who are isolated and disconnected from other means of support. Travelers Aid provides financial assistance, as well as counseling, housing services, education, and advocacy, in an effort to stabilize and support individuals and families in crisis. Donated art will hang in the main waiting area, hallways, counseling rooms, and community spaces to offer comfort to the vulnerable families and individuals who visit for services and appointments.

Boston Public Health Commission (Project SOAR)

Homeless Services through BPHC has a mission to improve the quality of life of homeless individuals in Boston by providing emergency rehabilitation services. Project SOAR is a transitional housing program on Long Island in the Boston Harbour Islands, that offers a safe and supportive alternative for a vulnerable population as they work towards self-sufficiency. Donated art will hang in the entry, hallways, common areas, and meeting rooms to enhance the lives of the homeless men and women served by the program, and to provide beauty, hope, and comfort as it inspires clients so often overlooked.

Andrew House’s mission is to provide comprehensive medical detoxification for adults with a substance addiction. They seek to improve access to the treatment continuum, strive to improve the quality of care, and are committed to provide services in a safe environment by staff who respect the dignity and diversity of all patients being served. Located out on Long Island in the Boston Harbor, Andrew House recently renovated a building which is now the state’s largest detox program. With a separate unit for women, it has the only dedicated program for women in the state. The vast majority of the population is homeless and uninsured. Donated art will hang in the assessment rooms, nurse’s areas, client lounge, group rooms, hallways, etc to help emphasize respect, dignity, and diversity for patients and staff. It may help dispel some of the demons their clients face daily, briefly transport them to a peaceful place, or simply provide a distraction, helping them achieve sobriety during a physically and mentally painful time.

Located in Dorchester and serving a very diverse population, this center supports older adults and often serves as their home away from home. About 100 seniors visit the center every day for a meal, to socialize, for counseling, to exercise, or to attend a class. Your art will help enhance this community’s space, which has been undergoing renovations. Your art will hang in the reception area, main room, elevator lobbies, conference rooms, in doctors’ exam and waiting rooms, and in the living room. Art works donated through The Art Connection will help Kit Clark Senior Service fulfill their mission to promote healthy aging.

The Elder Service Plan at the East Boston Neighborhood Health Center operates a day center in Winthrop that serves the needs of 130 participants. The Elder Service Plan in Winthrop is home to 26 residents, 55 years of age and older, who need transitional care after a hospitalization and also to those with dementia who require specialized care. The program is an alternative to traditional nursing home care. Donated art will hang in a large, sunny program space, the rotunda and sitting rooms within the residence, and in the center’s main entrance and outside of the kitchen. The work will be enjoyed by members, caregivers and staff, and by residents and their visitors.

Volunteer Lawyers Project (VLP) was established in 1977 to provide legal representation in civil matters to low income residents of Boston through the pro bono services of private attorneys and paralegals. The panel handles a broad range of substantive cases including housing, family, consumer, public benefits, and wills and probates for the elderly. VLP clients are poor and live in stressful environments and often come to VLP in crisis. Donated art will hang in the reception area, hallways, and conference areas to provide clients with an emotional connection and help convey the staff’s professionalism in an attractive, calm, and comfortable environment.
