Victory Programs - Shepherd House

Victory Programs’ mission is to open doors to recovery, hope and community to individuals and families facing homelessness, addiction, or other chronic illnesses. Through housing and support services Victory Programs’ goal is to provide the individuals and families they serve with the tools needed to support healthy and self-sufficient lives. Though the support of loyal and caring donors, they have been able to provide more than just a “bed” for those living in one of its 17 programs. The Art Connection has placed art within 6 of these programs. In each, art helps create a therapeutic environment and stimulates conversation among those who would otherwise have nothing in common.

The latest placement from The Art Connection now hangs at Shepherd House, a residential treatment program for women dealing with substance use disorders located in Dorchester, MA. The 4 to 8 month program can serve up to 32 women and provides residents with a bridge between treatment and re-integration into community living as they move through their own recovery. Shepherd House and its three side-by-side recovery sites is one of Massachusetts’ most dynamic leaders in innovative, evidence-based practices or care and support for women in recovery. Art now hangs throughout all three houses, bringing continuity and energy to the walls, and making this unique recovery facility into a home away from home.
