Art Placement: 2010, 2012
Bay Cove Human Services, Inc.
Andrew House first received donated art in 2010. The staff felt the process of selecting art helped bond them with the patients, and that the work on display has helped make their more comforting for the patients during their often painful detox process. Andrew House’s mission is to provide comprehensive medical detoxification for adults with a substance addiction. They seek to improve access to the treatment continuum, strive to improve the quality of care, and are committed to provide services in a safe environment by staff who respect the dignity and diversity of all patients being served. Located out on Long Island in the Boston Harbor, Andrew House recently renovated a building which is now the state’s largest detox
program. With a separate unit for women, it has the only dedicated program for women in the state. The vast majority of the population is homeless and uninsured. Donated art will hang in the assessment rooms, nurse’s areas, client lounge, group rooms, hallways, etc to help emphasize respect, dignity, and diversity for patients and staff. It may help dispel some of the demons their clients face daily, briefly transport them to a peaceful place, or simply provide a distraction, helping them achieve sobriety during a physically and mentally painful time.
