Unquity House provides the option for independent living in
one-bedroom and studio apartments to 139 seniors. Low-income residents are able
to afford living at the facility thanks to financing through MassHousing. Unquity House is managed by Milton Residences
for the Elderly (MRE), a non-profit organization that has developed and managed
affordable housing for seniors since its inception in 1968. The home is located
on the Neponset River in Milton.
Unquity House is a short walk to the MBTA and local
businesses, and residents with mobility challenges or those choosing to stay
indoors can enjoy one of the programmed activities, a visit to the library or
the café, or a trip to the resident-run convenience store. There is a sitting-area on each of the five
residential floors, which, along with the main entrance, now houses donated
artwork, making the Unquity House feel more like home to the individuals and
couples who live there. Additional art hangs in the office where residents
go to receive counseling and have their needs addressed.
