City Mission Society of Boston

Art Placement: 2008

About City Mission Society of Boston
City Mission Society of Boston is an urban social justice agency serving over 3,000 people each year. Established in 1816, it is the oldest multiservice agency in New England, addressing the education, economic, and social needs of low and moderate income individuals and families in Boston. Their mission is to unite communities and transform individuals through strategic partnerships, service, and education. Their focus areas are preventing homelessness, promoting non-violence among youth, and engaging people in “acts of mutuality” that result in authentic relationships. The donated art will hang in their offices where they conduct meetings to support females heads of households in low income families and run an emergency needs network working with the homeless. It will help bring a sense of hope and respect for the dignity of all; and will bring something new that can be, at once, exciting, challenging, and healing.
