The Work Place

Art Placements: 2008

The Work Place is dedicated to fostering economic growth in the City of Boston by providing comprehensive and easily accessible employment and career services to the unemployed. They help individuals find job openings, assess their skill levels and interests, and enter education and training programs. Donated art will hang in the entry, meeting rooms, and hallways to help change the sterile (and sometimes intimidating) environment into one that is more friendly and interesting. When individuals who already feel down know they are expected to learn things which they believe may be too difficult, they often fear exposing themselves to the strangers who sit behind the desks. Donated artwork will help them connect to visual art and start a new dialogue between consumers and providers – which will hopefully lead to relaxation, communication, and further engagement.
