GLBTQ Domestic Violence Project

The GLBTQ Domestic Violence Project (formerly Gay Men’s Domestic Violence Project) is a grassroots, non-profit organization founded by a gay male survivor of domestic violence and developed through the strength, contributions and participation of the community. Their mission is to assist and support victims and survivors of domestic violence, focusing on the GLBTQ community, to bring about responsive public policy, and to increase access to culturally competent services. Because the majority of their clients have experienced trauma and abuse, having a welcoming and uplifting environment for clients through the display of artwork will help put clients at ease, but will also acknowledge the important role that artistic expression can play in overcoming trauma and abuse. The GLBTQ Domestic Violence Project staff believes that providing survivors with support and access to culturally competent services must include not just basic advocacy, but also exposure to all resources for healing, including access to meaningful artwork.
