The mission of The Center of Teen
Empowerment is to empower youth and adults as agents of positive individual,
institutional, and social change. Teen Empowerment
(TE) hires a group of youth, ages 14-21, and trains them as community
organizers, providing them with the support, resources, and ongoing training
they need to organize initiatives that involve both youth and adults in
addressing community issues. They strive to be a place where youth,
working with adults in mutually respectful and supportive relationships, can
use their voices creatively to inspire, lead, and empower each other to achieve
justice and peace. We are placing art at the Dorchester site and Teen
Empowerment also has sites in Roxbury, Somerville and
in Rochester, NY. In Dorchester TE’s
space is also home to B4Records, an initiative geared to service the
community by empowering their talents through positive progressive music.
Donated artwork hangs in the recording studio, main programming space and
hallways, and in the counseling room.
