Mediation Works Inc. is a non-profit dedicated to providing resolution services and training to clients seeking to better understand and address conflict. Their mission is to provide opportunities for people in conflict to come together and resolve their differences in a mutually beneficial manner. Public service programs work with at-risk youth and their families, low-income tenants and landlords, and other income-eligible clients. MWI has now been the recipient of original artwork from The Art Connection three times, and their collection of artwork has become fully integrated into their office, located downtown in Liberty Square.
MWI regularly holds mediation sessions in its office space and original art has had a huge impact on the tenor of the conflict resolutions they facilitate, helping to establish a calm and cooperative tone and stimulating dialogue for both staff and clients. Artwork creates an inspiring and comforting environment to deal with difficult situations including divorces, evictions, and generational conflicts within families. The collection has been such an important part of MWI’s identity that the organization has incorporated details from the art into their website and endeavor to share information about their donating artists with mediation clients.
