About East Boston Neighborhood Health Center (EBNHC)
The purpose and mission of the East Boston Neighborhood Health Center (EBNHC) is to safely and effectively provide easily accessible, personalized, high quality, affordable care that is sensitive to the needs of each individual who lives or works in East Boston, Winthrop, Chelsea, and Revere regardless of ability to pay. EBNHC serves approximately 55,000 patients across over 200,000 visits annually and employs a staff of 750; and maintains priorities that are driven by the needs and values of the local community. It is, in effect, a community anchor, for so many experiencing multiple psychosocial challenges – poverty, immigration issues, domestic violence, chronic health conditions, unemployment, lack of health insurance, etc. With its 24 hour Urgent Care Department serving as the front door of the organization and the gateway to the broad umbrella of primary medical and specialty care services including mental health/social services, comprehensive HIV services, chronic disease management programs, pharmacy, and member services, the EBNHC is for so many the obvious and only place to turn for help. EBNHC is committed to a continuous beautification project in order to provide a bright, clean, well organized, tranquil, and visually appealing environment of care at all times. The donated art will hang in the waiting areas in each of the departments to enhance the comfort, warmth, and ambiance they strive to provide.

Transition House
Art Placement: 2009
About Transition House
Transition House works with people recovering from the trauma of domestic abuse and violence --it's intense, complicated, painful and also incredibly hopeful work. They believe that art will reinforce the hope at the heart of our work. And especially at this moment in the organization's evolution (when they're serving more people with dwindling resources) they need art around us to brighten our days, feed our souls and remind everyone who walks through our doors that Transition House nurtures creative thinking and possibilities in our work. The donated art will hang in the waiting areas, meeting rooms, and community spaces to reflect the energy and commitment Transition House shares with their clients and the community, and help support change, growth, and healing for their program participants.

City Mission Society of Boston
Art Placement: 2008
About City Mission Society of Boston
City Mission Society of Boston is an urban social justice agency serving over 3,000 people each year. Established in 1816, it is the oldest multiservice agency in New England, addressing the education, economic, and social needs of low and moderate income individuals and families in Boston. Their mission is to unite communities and transform individuals through strategic partnerships, service, and education. Their focus areas are preventing homelessness, promoting non-violence among youth, and engaging people in “acts of mutuality” that result in authentic relationships. The donated art will hang in their offices where they conduct meetings to support females heads of households in low income families and run an emergency needs network working with the homeless. It will help bring a sense of hope and respect for the dignity of all; and will bring something new that can be, at once, exciting, challenging, and healing.

Introduction
What is The Art Connection?
The Art Connection is a nonprofit organization that seeks to enrich under-served communities by expanding public access to original works of art. Our art donation and placement program is like a "museum without borders" as it places the work of donor artists on the walls of community service organizations.
Since its inception in 1995, this unique gifting program has identified and cataloged original works of art donated from generous individuals and has supported non-profit agencies in the selection of pieces that are meaningful to them. Within these healing environments, the original works of art provide welcome opportunities for reflection, inspiration, comfort, and hope. The artists are delighted to exhibit their work in places that attract a large number of visitors and feel good knowing that their work can have an impact on the daily lives of others. Organizations find that original artwork enlivens spaces and connects them to their constituents in profound ways. Ours is an enriching creative collaboration on all counts. Sometimes, just one painting or sculpture can make a difference. This simple but powerful idea has resulted in thousands of installations into scores of organizations, giving those who often have the least access to art direct contact in their own communities.
