City of Boston Commission on Affairs of the Elderly

The mission of the Commission on Affairs of the Elderlyis to enhance the quality of life for Boston's senior citizens through planning, coordinating, and monitoring the delivery of services to the elderly in an efficient and effective manner. In addition to providing services throughout the Boston neighborhoods, they also provide direct services to older adults in their City Hall office.

These important services include information and referral and advocacy services, benefits screening and enrollment, connection to volunteer opportunities, and taxi coupon sales. They welcome over 500 elders into their office each month, the majority of whom are low-income constituents who do not often have exposure to art. Art is installed in the entrance, advocacy offices, conference rooms, and throughout the hallways to create a more welcoming and friendly environment.
